FREE film tickets for AIAS UC-Denver Members

3rd Annual Architecture + Design Film Series
Presented By The Denver Film Society And Design Onscreen

September 8th – October 1, 2011
Celebrate the best in films on architecture and design at nine special screening events, including stimulating discussions with dynamic filmmakers, architects and design experts, plus receptions hosted by Denver’s favorite eateries. Films will screen on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons during the Series, with a special closing night screening and gala reception on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 1.
All evening films in the Series are Colorado premieres and on Sept.. 29 we’ll feature a World Premiere screening of EAMES: The Architect and The Painter.

Online Registration is Now Available for the AIA Denver 2011 Design Awards Gala

ONLY $15 FOR AIAS UC-DENVER MEMBERS! 

Join AIA Denver for an evening of socializing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dessert and a celebration of the design community. The AIA Denver Design Awards Gala will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, from 6 – 10 p.m., at the Denver Botanic Gardens (900 York St., Denver, CO 80206). Complimentary parking is available at the venue.

The AIA Denver 2011 Design Awards winners are being presented by Design Award Jury Chair Merrill Elam, AIA, of Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects (Atlanta, Ga.). The gala will also include the presentation of the AIA Denver 2011 Honor Awards.

Pre-Gala Tour: AIA Denver will be featuring a tour of the gardens prior to the start of the gala. The tour, Native Roots | Modern Form: Plants, People and the Art of Allen Houser, will take place at 5 p.m. and can only accommodate 50 people at a maximum. If you are interested in taking this tour, please mark your preference on the registration form and include the additional fee ($4) per person in your registration total. The deadline to sign up for the tour is Friday, September 16, and no additional tours can be scheduled after that date.

Register for the AIA Colorado 2011 Practice & Design Conference!

Registration for the AIA Colorado 2011 Practice and Design Conference is now available.

The conference is Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 13 – 15, at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center (0633 Tennis Club Road, Keystone, CO 80435). The early-bird registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 9. This three-day event kicks off with the Practice Conference on Thursday, Oct. 13, which provides architects and professionals in the industry with practical tools to improve their everyday businesses. This year’s program is a must-attend for emerging design professionals, small and medium-sized firm owners and sole practitioners.

The Design Conference takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 – 15, with the theme, Regeneration. This year AIA Colorado is featuring a new scheduling format that breaks the conference into six themed blocks that feature different keynote speakers that address the block topic unique ways. DESIGN*A*PALOOZA

Aug. 5: Design-A-Palooza
Join AIA Denver, IIDA, ASID, CIDC, IFMA, NEWH and Source Four (753 Kalamath, Denver, CO 80204) for Design-A-Palooza 2.0 on Friday, Aug. 5, from 5 – 8 p.m., during the First Friday Santa Fe Artwalk. The event features gourmet food trucks Pinche Tacos and Heirloom, Frills cupcakes, Cheapskates Action Sports Bar, Colorado winemaker Verso Wine Cellars, a juried modern art show featuring design industry professionals’ work, special guest DJ Wendy Mather and a fun photobooth provided by “This Modern Life Photography.” The first 125 people who RSVP get a free ticket for the food trucks.
